With a mindful in-breath we begin to slow down and move into a yoga pose, consciously lengthening the spine and muscles. The spaces in our joints decompress and our bodies begin a re-alignment process that leads to a more resilient anatomy.
At the end of our inhalation, we momentarily hold the breath and slowly increase tension throughout the body. This is the time we focus on strengthening through internal and external isometric muscular contraction.
Then, releasing this held tension in the body with a slow exhalation sound, we cycle through another posture or give way to conscious relaxation. This is the power of our mind actively transforming stress.
When our yoga asana cycle ends, we let go completely, breathing naturally, relaxing fully. In this quiet softness, body and mind synchronize in the present moment and we can fully appreciate being alive!
